I loved the series because of Suikoden II
The depth of the story was unparalleled, I can't even compare any FF game to it, except for Final Fantasy Tactics, it was that deep.
Hey, did you notice the random names the computer chooses if you don't enter a name? There were names like Youssef and Hussain, I was really surprised by that!
A must fave = )

FF Tactics, oh that's an old game = ), I remember setting with my sister while she was playing .(My English was so poor at that time LOL), but I enjoyed the story and I let her translate every thing. It was great game, but she never finish it for some mysterious reason.
For the random names, I noticed that too and was a real surpise too my too ^^.

It was a 2D game with so many characters, each with their different stories and backgrounds. The game didn't rely on CG cut scenes nor any directorial work, yet the story was great enough to be told and it had enough depth in it to make anyone interact.
Funny when you compare it with games that have limited number of characters, 10 at most, and none of them has any originality nor any depth to make anyone interact with them. Moreover, such a game would have groundbreaking 3D graphics and incredibly well done CG scenes with so much directorial talent. But ultimately, the story is not worth telling!!
I'm amazed by FF Tactics because it relied on the characters and the story to keep us hooked, much like Suikoden II. And despite the fact that it was FF game, it never depended on graphics nor cut scenes to tell its exceptionally well-plotted story. Plus, we rarely see an ethical and humble hero like Ramza. I remember reading an unforgettable line from a review about it "If Shakespeare made a game, it would be FF Tactics" Good thing they remade it for PSP with some additional stuff = )
I'm not a big fan of the FF series, but I especially loved FF Tactics and FFX.
Let me ask you something, what do you think of Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross?
Hey, no prob, that's what you get from me when you submit anything about a game I admire; a fave+long comments!
Cheers
